This year’s Sasikirana Dance Camp was hosted by Jatiwangi Arts Factory and dealt with the topic “Body and Soil.” This video, directed by Amber Theisen, follows the practice sessions of the young dancers from all over Indonesia combined with the interview with founder Keni Soeriaatmadja, delving  into the intricate connections between dance, ethnicity, and social environments. Keni shares personal reflections on her relationship with dance and explores the cultural nuances embedded within traditional Indonesian dance forms. From the diverse landscapes of rural and urban areas to the complex historical influences of colonization and industrialization, the trailer offers a compelling glimpse into the dynamic interplay between the body and the surrounding land, questioning how the environment shapes our movements.
