With the project connecting ecosystems we build upon the connections from documenta fifteen in Kassel 2022. During this summer local initiatives worked closely together, especially at Zukunftsdorf 22 and within the “Kassel ecosystem”.
How can the various threads be developed further?
After exchanging upon what happened and which connections are still fostering dialogue between different initiatives we hosted several events to collect the questions and ideas still remaining one year after documenta fifteen. To keep the dialogue up and to strengthen the network we mapped our thoughts several times, spent time together and gave introductions to garden places within the city.
With this collection of thoughts, projects and practices we visited the collectives in Indonesia and Bangladesh and exchanged upon those questions again to also share our findings and nurture the harvest.
Now, in 2024, we will activate Kassel again in various places to bring together friends and new people – also inviting artists from Indonesia and Bangladesh to share their work and collaborate in the city.
On March 3rd, we invited the community of Kassel to Freie Werkstatt Soziokultur for the kickoff event of CONNECTING ECOSYSTEMS. This public event welcomed all initiatives across Kassel, fostering a spirit of collaboration and shared vision for sustainable development.
In a collaborative effort to envision the future of sustainable living in Kassel, we hosted a public mapping event at Stadtteilzentrum Wesertor und Ook. Together with members of the public, we shared a massive piece of paper, inviting participants to express their aspirations for CONNECTING ECOSYSTEMS.

We’re back in Kassel and have a lot ahead of us. On May 3rd, we met again at the Werkstatt e.V. at Huttenplatz (Kassel) to share the results of our journey and to collectively plan the upcoming summer.
