What fascinated me (Ella) the most was whether a film about queer-feminist gardening would generate interest in predominantly Islamic Indonesia. Indeed, I was pleasantly surprised by the openness with which the film was discussed. Even in an Islamic boarding school, the film was screened and discussed by the students.
This year's Sasikirana Dance Camp was hosted by Jatiwangi Arts Factory and dealt with the topic “Body and Soil.” This video follows the practice sessions of the young dancers from all over Indonesia combined with the interview with founder Keni Soeriaatmadja, delving into the intricate connections between dance, ethnicity, and social environments.
